Privacy Policy

Stet is operated by Joey Tan ([email protected]) in the United States. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What this covers

This policy applies to the Stet website and app (the “Service”). It does not cover third‑party services you may use alongside Stet.

Information we collect

• Account information: your email address and basic session data used to keep you signed in.
• Content you provide: drafts, draft history, comments, references, workspace context, chat history, and prompt text/selections — depending on your settings.
• Operational data: standard server logs (for example, timestamps and request metadata) used for reliability and abuse prevention.
• Cookies: essential cookies for authentication and security. We do not use advertising cookies.

Your privacy controls

Stet includes per‑category “Data controls” that let you decide (1) what is saved to the server and (2) what the AI can see. When storage is off, that data stays in your current browser session and clears when the data session resets.

How we use information

• Provide the Service (sign‑in, editor, syncing, and recovery).
• Run AI features when you request them.
• Maintain security, prevent abuse, and debug reliability issues.
• Communicate with you about account access and support.

AI processing

When you use AI features, Stet sends the necessary prompt/context to a configured AI provider (for example, OpenAI or Anthropic). You can disable AI access for specific data categories in Settings; when disabled, Stet will withhold that data from AI requests and may show reduced-quality warnings in the UI.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as needed to run Stet:

• Email delivery: we use Resend to send one‑time login codes.
• AI providers: we use third‑party AI APIs to generate text and assist with editing when you request it.
• Payments (if enabled): Stripe may process subscription payments and related billing records.
• Infrastructure: hosting and database providers to store and serve data when your settings allow server storage.

Data retention

If server storage is enabled for a category, we retain that data until you delete it in the app or request deletion. If server storage is disabled for a category, it is not saved to the server and instead remains in your browser session.

Deletion requests

You can delete drafts and related items from within the Service. To request account deletion or deletion assistance, email [email protected]. We may retain limited information where required by law or for legitimate business purposes (for example, billing records).

Security

We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Children

Stet is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and post the updated policy here.
